2's Class
Our 2's class provides a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where the children can follow their natural inclination to learn through play. Under the supervision and guidance of their teacher and two cooping parents, the children learn to develop trust in caring adults outside their home. This is often the first school experience for the children and we strive to provide a comfortable, relaxed and happy environment. The 2's classroom is equipped with a wide variety of attractive, inviting, age-appropriate materials. The children choose their own play and are given ample time to play both indoors and outdoors. The daily schedule is predictable but maintains the flexibility to accommodate the children's individual needs and interests.
3's Class
We provide our three-year-olds with play materials, an environment and teacher support that promotes growth in all developmental areas. The focus of the 3's program is on child-initiated play, allowing the children to follow their natural inclination to learn. Our 3's teacher facilitates and promotes the children's learning by designing daily activities and projects that are interesting, meaningful and, of course, fun for the children. Our learning-centers are designed to facilitate the introduction of age-appropriate science, math, social studies and logical thinking concepts. Language and literacy development is encouraged through books, story time, rhymes, poems, finger plays and music. This is an important year for social and emotional competence and the classroom setting provides many opportunities for social/emotional growth. We encourage the children to respect the rights of others and help them develop skills to resolve conflicts with others and to follow directions and routines.
4's Class
The focus of our 4's class, better known as the Explorers, is on active, meaningful learning through play. We believe that learning by doing instills self-confidence, a love for learning and can lead to successful academic learning. Our classroom environment and materials promote self-exploration and self-discovery with adult guidance and support. All classroom materials are easily accessible and the children are given a large amount of time to become deeply involved in their play indoors and outdoors. The children are introduced to units of study such as: dinosaurs, reptiles, mammals, and the human body. Related art projects, games and materials give the children a hands-on approach to learning about these topics. An emphasis is placed on language-related activities, games and puzzles. They also enjoy daily story time and show-and-tell. The 4's teacher and parents continue to foster self-help and social skills.
Extended Day
We provide an Extended Day program for our 3's and 4's classes as many as four days a week. This longer class day provides an opportunity for the children to become involved in other activities that are of interest to help them learn about themselves and their world. Keeping in mind the developmental level of the children, the extended-day program is designed to include both child-initiated and teacher directed activities and projects that allow them to explore concepts in math, science, arts, literacy and social studies. Each day, the children enjoy plenty of time on our well-equipped playground. The children bring their lunch and share these meal together - a favorite of the children.
